Upgrades and Updates…

Whew! We’ve been busy! We’ve taken some steps forward and some steps back. Let’s start with some good news, shall we?

First, we got a new (to us) washer and dryer! No more teeny, tiny stackable! (Don’t worry, it went to a good home.) Here’s a before pic of the “laundry center.”

And now, here’s one of the “after.”

Laundry After

Next up, our light fixture in our entryway passed away last week. It was really fun digging through a dark closet trying to find my shoes, but we decided we should probably replace the fixture after all… Oh well, all good things must come to an end…:)

Autopsy revealed cause of death as complications of being extremely outdated...

After days of looking for a cheap but reasonably good-looking replacement, I scored exactly what I was looking for on Craigslist for about 1/3 the cost of some of the others I was considering. Yea Craigslist!

Ain’t she a beaut?

Now for the bad news… our floors are not quite as breathtakingly beautiful as we had originally anticipated them being. In a fit of energy and some mild insanity, I went ahead a pulled up the carpet in the second bedroom. All by myself. Yup, just me. What?…Ok, fine! Erich helped a little… And here’s what we ended up with after all our hard work…

Gorgeous huh? There will probably be some refinishing in this floor’s future. We are also now not very hopeful that the rest of the floors throughout the house will look any better than this. Sigh, all that hard work and it actually looks way worse than it did before…

So there you have it. A few steps forward and one step back…
